well, Jed and I have been exchanging emails, and he sent me the Excel sheet he did his analysis with. and, lo and behold, it turns out that the "broad" range he shows in his chart isn't the full range. so I charted the full range and it actually shows that fewer jobs had declining hours than jobs that were unchanged or positive. 20 jobs were flat or up, while 19 were down
