Meanwhile, there is the entire notion of prescription drugs... where drugs from Canada and Mexico are prevented from being imported "for our safety" when in fact all it does is skew the free market... with the lack of competition there is no "invisible hand of Adam Smith" to incentivize pharma companies to offer products at the lowest price per market conditions. The end result are artificially inflated prices. Injecting more free market solutions into the system will result in more choice and lower costs for consumers. If we fail to address these flaws in the cost structure of medical care, and simply jump to a solution where taxpayers pool their money to pay for it, the real problem is never addressed.... and taxpayers simply end up paying artificially high prices... but this time by government force.
