I think the Tea Party will take a bad situation and make it worse, bad as it is now. Show me a real solution that is not just another rubber-stamp for the Plutocracy and I'll consider it.eugI will tell you what I propose JohnnyTrigger2014-03-09 15:22:45IMO, the biggest problem with our health care system is that consumers do not make decisions based on value. The health care system is one of the few industries where there is no price list... the consumer has no idea what anything costs... nor do they care because the "other guy" has to pay.... resulting in excessive demands on the system and a lack of incentive of providers to provide a more cost efficient solution... both of which result in higher costs. Makes total sense to me that for routine health maintenance and smaller health care requirements that people pay out of their own pocket... and make a decision based on the value they get for their dollar... just like all other free market dynamics that result in more choice and lower costs. Health insurance is indeed necessary, but should be reserved for catastrophic cases. If reserved for catstrophic cases only, premiums would be significantly lower. Meanwhile, there is the entire notion of prescription drugs... where drugs from Canada and Mexico are prevented from being imported "for our safety" when in fact all it does is skew the free market... with the lack of competition there is no "invisible hand of Adam Smith" to incentivize pharma companies to offer products at the lowest price per market conditions. The end result are artificially inflated prices. Injecting more free market solutions into the system will result in more choice and lower costs for consumers. If we fail to address these flaws in the cost structure of medical care, and simply jump to a solution where taxpayers pool their money to pay for it, the real problem is never addressed.... and taxpayers simply end up paying artificially high prices... but this time by government force. Our system is indeed broken. But there are alternative solutions to Obamacare, universal or single payer health care plans.eugI oppose all monopolies JohnnyTrigger2014-03-09 15:21:18as far as the tea party, I don't support them either.sfoI'll drink to that § UnMitigated_Galt2014-03-09 15:20:01spkAnd I, for one, don't. § jesushasmyback2014-03-09 15:18:51sfoHuh?
